Tyndall Federal Credit Union

Panama City, Florida

You Don’t Need a Bank.

We were contacted by Tyndall Federal Credit Union, a 50 year old institution, 100,000 members strong, in August, 2008 as one of eight (8) agencies considered to update their branding. We were selected and began work in September.

Needs

Among a variety of marketing needs, we identified the following as most important:

  1. “Credit Unions” are misunderstood among younger customers who use banks.
  2. The perception of Tyndall Federal Credit Union was that it was “older.”
  3. Brand standards were unorganized with various branches, departments and vendors using logos inconsistently.
  4. Client didn’t need us for everything but rather, desired advertising components and “templates” they could adapt internally and with various vendors.
  5. It was time to get their first email marketing program going.

Results!

Rebranding was achieved with an enhanced logo that set an organization wide standard but was similar enough to existing logo that expensive signage did not have to be changed.

We created a Brand Standards Guide, new billboard and print advertising templates, checks, credit cards and an email marketing template and trained them how to use them working with their existing web site vendor. Our branding success led to the most exciting phase to date for the firm, which is a new creative direction based on the tagline “Tyndall is NOW.”

Sales Results??  December, 2008 was Tyndall’s best month in its history for home mortgages and they lead their market in auto loans. They have grown from 8 to 11 branches in our 9 months together. We involved their employees and customers in a new TV campaign with a more youthful approach and the goal of driving business to the web site. The chart below demonstrates growth in web site visits.

Tyndall’s future looks good with a new internet only test market underway with a web site we designed for them, and a new consultancy created to share their strength with ailing financial institutions.
